About the founder

Orieyonna L Malone

Orieyonna L Malone is a Detroit founder and the publisher behind Exit 9 Media. A professional housing and financial counselor by trade, she built a media house on one rule: wherever power leans on people, we're looking.

01 / The story

Started with a T-shirt press. Grew into a media house.

In 2021, Orieyonna L Malone founded Exit 9 Apparel L.L.C. in Detroit, Michigan — a custom apparel business she built from the ground up, teaching herself the craft of designing and printing apparel piece by piece.

The apparel company became an umbrella. Under Exit 9 Apparel L.L.C., she launched Exit9media and its flagship newsroom, Nine Wire — verified, US-first reporting on how artificial intelligence, land, power and policy land on regular people. In 2026 the house grew again with Year Two Taxes, a property-tax reporting and homeowner-education service built on the same plain-English principle: complicated public information, made clear enough to act on.

Everything under the Exit 9 umbrella runs on one standard — no fluff, no lies, no fear-bait. Receipts first, and every claim traceable to a public record, a filing, or a named source.

What Exit 9 Media makes.

01

Nine Wire

Verified AI-and-power news for regular people — lawsuits, data centers, land, utilities and work. "Wherever power leans on people, we're looking."

02

Follow the Money

Public-records investigations that start from a public harm and follow the money trail the law requires to be published — contracts, dockets, filings and 990s.

03

Year Two Taxes

Property-tax history reports and homeowner education, including the Homeowner Tax Check — the year-two tax jump after a sale, shown before a buyer signs, in plain English.

04

LOC'D IN

A serialized fiction series for YouTube — a hyper-realistic animated crime drama set in Detroit, written and voiced in-house.

03 / The experience

The beats come from the desk.

Orieyonna L Malone is a professional housing and financial counselor. Her day work is the unglamorous machinery that decides whether families keep their homes: housing resources, government paperwork, and public records — explained in plain English to the people who have to act on them.

That desk experience is the editorial engine of Exit 9 Media. Housing, taxes, utilities and land are not abstract coverage areas here; they are the files she reads for a living. When Nine Wire covers a utility rate case or a data center's land deal, or when Year Two Taxes walks a buyer through what happens to their tax bill in year two, the reporting starts from how these systems actually work on a kitchen table — and what they cost a regular family in dollars per month.
